September 19^th General Meeting

 Be sure to attend the first general meeting of the year. Note that our first meeting will be held at the Blackfoot and on the agenda will be a number of interesting topics. Are you interested in joining a committee? Just a few minutes of your time each month will reap substantial personal and professional rewards.

 Also included on this month’s agenda will be frequency and place of general meetings, bursaries for continuing education, a recap of our executive meetings leading up to our first general meeting, approval of budgets and other interesting topics.

 As your newly elected president I have been asked to say a few words on behalf of the newly elected executive. Also having attended the Third Annual Canadian Bar Association Pan Canadian Conference on Insolvencies held in Ottawa September 8, I will be presenting our members with a recap of the conference that will be of significance to all industry segment credit grantors. Topics shall include a review of recent developments in Canadian insolvency and restructuring law reform; a look at the big restructurings of the past year including Stelco; Chapter 47 (Bill C-55); new twists affecting receivers, trustees and monitors; and other topics of interest to the credit generalist.

 Be sure to join us September 19^th and your phone committee will be contacting you soon to confirm your attendance and for your dinner menu selections. Other non-members in your office may be interested in joining you to this important meeting and all are welcome.
